On New Year's Eve, our little family went out for dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant to enjoy a good meal and reflect on the year. This end-of-the-year family convo has become a cherished tradition that is insightful, funny, and sweet. We talk about best memories (usually travel related), challenges (typically change related), and proud moments (because of taking risks). The memories of growth, joy and blessings provide encouragement for the year ahead.
Winter storm Cora gifted us with unexpected downtime this weekend. We enjoyed about 5 inches of snow! Snow days are a reminder to live in the now and that interruptions aren't always inconveniences. These slow days filled with sledding, fires, cooking, reading, lego building, and neighbors are a reminder that slowing down isn't wasted time...it's sacred time that builds core memories. For a few hours last night we lost power and were forced to huddle together in our fire place room. After a good game of Mahjong, we continued our New Years Reflection and each did the popular IN/OUT list. It's fun to write everyone's down and tape inside a cabinet door.
